Panopto is compatible with both PC and Mac and allows recording of voice and screen capture of a desktop, PowerPoint or Keynote. Panopto - Lehigh University's Panopto service is a cloud-based service that provides various video services including screen capture, streaming and lecture capture. Screencast offers 2GB of free space which allows users to easily share their videos. Users can save the their videos locally, or create a Screencast account. Jing - A free web-based screen casting tool that allows users to create flash videos up to five minutes in length. If you would like to capture your screen to create course content or documentation, you can use the applications listed below which are used for creating voice-over video content and documentation. For very short clips, there are even free options like Jing from TechSmith. There are a range of good tools available for screencasting these days. It’s worth pausing for a moment and considering that less than a decade ago you needed a professional studio-or, at the very least, a whole lot of time on your hands-to achieve this level of production. Most screencasting tools also enable you to combine what you capture on the screen with video captured from a camera, so you can easily shift back and forth from a narrator to whatever the narrator is talking about. Whenever you launch a new offering, screencasting is a great way to do a quick walk-through of highlights. Using this approach, you can quickly demonstrate how to perform basic tasks in a software program or on a website, or you can record yourself presenting a PowerPoint deck, just to name some of the obvious possibilities. The ability to record whatever appears on your computer screen and narrate as you do so is known as “screencasting.” It is another form of video, but one that deserves to be discussed separately from video captured with a camera.
